Extension of the Digital Work Card to the sectors of Insurance and Security

Tuesday, 24 January 2023

According to the recent announcement of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Digital Work Card system will be extended to all undertakings in the insurance and security sectors. More specifically, from 16/02/2023 onwards, insurance companies under Tax Operation Code (KAD) 6622 are required to take all necessary steps to comply with their obligations emanating from the Digital Work Card system. The same applies to companies that provide security and protection services under Tax Operation Codes (KAD) 8010 and 8020, with the exception of those under Tax Operation Code 8030.

For the successful implementation of the Digital Work Card, employees need to use the myErgani mobile app, which has been upgraded to support the operation of the Digital Work Card, while employers need to use the Ergani CardScanner application, in case they are not already been using another worktime tracking system. The Ergani CardScanner application will be used to scan employees’ Digital Work Cards, read the starting and finishing time of employees’ shifts and automatically transmit the information, in real time, to the Ministry’s ERGANI II system. In the near future, the Ministry is expected to upload an extensive Q&A list on ERGANI’s site regarding the procedure and the way in which companies are expected to comply with their obligations arising from the Digital Work Card system.
